Year in Review Part 1

Pittsburgh Penguins Start of the Year 2009. Year in Review Part 1

The year started like shit, lost to Boston with 4-2. Lost to Florida Panthers at Pittsburgh with 6-1 and lost against Rangers at MSG with 4-0.

Then Finally we started the new year with Class, we won Atlanta at home with 3-0, Malkin got 3 assist and was behind every goal scored, Sykora scored 2 goals, and Crosby the last one.

Then we lost to more matches both with the same score, 5-3 against Nashville and Colorado. After that we went to Philadelphia to face are rivals the Flyers (Cryers) and won the match 4-2, after goals by Kennedy, Malkin, Staal and Cooke. Then we went back to Pittsburgh to face are other rivals Washington Capitals. we lost by 6-3.

We hade to bounce back from that loss and we did that by winning at home against Anaheim with 3-1 after Cooke scored 2 goals and Malkin got two points for the assist to those goals. and Hal Gill putting the final nail in the coffin with the 3-1 goal. Next up was another rivalry. NY Rangers. was a wonderful night because Fleury did not let in any goals, and Penguins won with 3-0, Goals by Minard, Kennedy and Sykora.

Next up was the Staal Wars at Mellon Arena. Now that sounds awesome, but the pens lost to Carolina with 2-1.



Then it was time for the All-Star Weekend. Crosby and Malkin was voted in to the All-Star match by fans, but unfortunately Crosby was injured and could not play, but showed up to the all-star weekend to be a good sport, not like Lidstrom in Detroit that got Suspended for not showing upp. Malkin won the Target Competition. on his first try he got 4 out of 4, and on his final try vs. Heatley in sudden and won with 3 out of 4 hits. then in the All-Star game Malkin got one goal and one assist. For the most part i Really hate Ovie, but i could not stop laughing when Malkin took out props for Ovie. The only time that i did not hate Ovie.

After the All-Star Weekend Continued the Season with Penguins vs. Rangers in Mellon Arena Staal Wars. Penguins won the match with a 6-2 victury. Crosby got one goal and 2 assist, Malkin Got 1 assist, Sykora got two Goals, J.Staal one goal, Letang 2 goals. Then it went bad again for the penguins. Losing to New Jersey in overtime 4-3, Losing to Toronto with 5-4 and losing to Montreal with 4-2. Now we were in a slump heading back to Mellon arena to face Tampa Bay. But one man saved us in overtime, MALKIN!. i still remember the goal

Then are 2nd win in 2 matches came against the Blue Jackets 4-1. Crosby 3 Points, Letang 2 Goals, Sykora 1 Goal, Malkin 1 Assist. Then we were about to face Detroit Red Wings & The Idiot Hossa that left us because he thought that he would have a bigger chans to win the Stanley Cup, the game did not go so well, we lost 3-0. But we came back and won against San Jose Sharks in a Penalty Shootout, it's not often that The Penguins get a win over the sharks specially when Mario Lemieux is not playing anymore. Bill Thomas, a Pittsburgh Native makes his first goal in a Penguins Jersey and what a goal it was. it went to Penalty Shots, only one to score was Crosby and Fleury with an awesome save at the end.

Next Game was against the Toronto Maple Leafs. When we went in to this game we said, "the penguins will have an easy victory over Toronto" but we were wrong. The match ended 6-2 for the Toronto Maple Leafs after we had the lead and let in 5 goals in the third period. Next day coach Michel Therrien got fired. They brought up the Coach from Baby Penguins to be Pittsburgh Penguins Head Coach, His name was Dan Bylsma. first every body was like "dan who?" but the things he did for the Penguins made him King Dan Bylsma.

Michel Therrien's last match as a coach for the Penguins.
